(article out of magazine "Ateliers d'Art",
column "Nouveaux Adhérents" of july-august 2005)
weaving passion pearls Originary from Holland, Chantal studied at the ENSAID School of Fashion,
where she obtained her certificate of theatre costume design, embroideries
and other specialities.
After arriving in Paris, she trained at the “Comédie Française” where she worked
on a “Hamlet” play, then at Careco Canezous’ for Christian Lacroix. She also realized
movie costumes (e.g. “La Reine Margot”…) and costumes for theatre (“Falstaff” at the La Criée theatre in Marseille).

With this experience, she started creating design and art. Since 2004,
She creates textile compositions in brass, aluminium, plexiglas and fabrics.
The essence of her work is the realization of unique and original art pieces.

Her research has always been orientated towards the third dimension, volumes and
embroidery of pearls, a balance between colours and materials used. A mixture of
applied and fine art. Her sources of inspiration are northern African, oriental and
Scandinavian cultures.

During her research for three dimensional weaving, she met Claude-Marie Thibert. She
taught Chantal how to use the traditional techniques of weaving in contemporary art.
Claude-Marie is a renowned weaver in France.

In 2005, Chantal competed for the Prix Sema in the Val d'Oise district and won a special award. She won the Prix Sema in the Val d'Oise district in 2006.
